Author Guidelines

1. General

The Journal of Comprehensive Molecular Science and Genetics (JCMSG) publishes original articles, reviews, brief reports, and case reports on Molecular biology and Genetics. The study of all model organisms, from invertebrates to humans, is appropriate.

1. Types of Papers Published by JCMSG

2.1 Original Article

2.1.1 Maximum number of words: within 5500 words;

2.1.2 Number of references: Less than 50;

2.1.3 Number of Figure: within 6 figures;

2.1.4 Number of tables: within 4 tables;

2.2 Review

2.2.1 Maximum number of words: within 6000 words;

2.2.2 Number of references: Less than 70；

2.2.3 Number of Figure: within 4 figures;

2.2.4 Number of tables: within 2 tables;

2.3 Brief Report

2.3.1 Maximum number of words: within 2500 words;

2.3.2 Number of references: Less than 25;

2.3.3 Number of Figure: within 3 figures;

2.3.4 Number of tables: within 2 tables;

2.4 Case Report

2.4.1 Maximum number of words: within 3000 words;

2.4.2 Number of references: Less than 25;

2.4.3 Number of Figure: within 2 figures;

1. Manuscript Format

3.1 General Format

3.1.1 Times New Roman, font size is 12;

3.1.2 Line spacing is 1.5, no first line indentation and separator;

3.1.3 Using the automatic page numbering function to number the pages;

3.1.4 Mark manuscript with line numbers;

3.1.5 Using British English or American English spelling throughout the manuscript, do not mix the two;

3.2 Manuscript content for original article

3.2.1 Title Page

This section should include the title of the article (concise and informative), author information (name, affiliation, and corresponding author’s email address) and keywords;

Note: Please use numbers for the author unit; use * for corresponding authors; use # for equivalent contributions (if applicable)

3.2.2 Abstract

This section is limited to 300 words and provides continuous (unstructured) or structured (including objective, method, result and conclusion) abstracts. Abbreviations that appear only once should be fully defined, with the exception of gene names. If the abbreviation occurs more than once, the definition should be provided once and then used throughout the abstract.

3.2.3 Keywords

Keywords: 2 to 5 keywords should be included in the manuscript. Please use the words listed in the latest edition of the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) in Index Medicus, edited by the National Library of Medicine, as far as possible. If necessary, free words in common usage may be used and listed at the end.

3.2.4 Introduction

In this part, authors should give as much detail as possible about the background and purpose of the study

3.2.5 Materials and Methods

This section should include enough technical information to allow repeated experiments.

3.2.6 Result

Author should provide a precise and concise description of the results of each part of the study

3.2.7 Discussion

Authors should discuss the flowing points in this part:

1) Restate your own key findings.

2) Detail the history of the study and its current progress.

3) Describe the novelty of your findings, their significance to the present, and their current application.

4) Describe the limitations of your study and what impact it may have on the findings.

3.2.8 Statement

The publisher recommends that authors include a contribution statement in their work, stating each author’s contribution to increase transparency. For example, conceptualization: [full name], …; methodology: [full name], …; formal analysis and investigation: [full name], …; writing-manuscript preparation: [full name, …]; writing- Review and editing: [Full name], …; Fund acquisition: [Full name], …; Resources: [Full name], …; Supervision: [Full name], ….

3.2.8.5 Ethical approval

When reporting a research involving human participants, their data or biological materials, the author should include a statement confirming that the research has been approved (or granted an exemption) by the corresponding institution and/or the National Research Ethics Committee (including the name of the ethics committee).

If human cells are used, the author must declare in the manuscript: source of the cell line, including when and where the cell line was obtained, whether the cell line has been recently certified and which cell line was used by what method. If the cells are purchased from a life science company, the following information needs to be provided in the manuscript: company name (providing the cells), cell type, cell factor amount, and cell batch.

3.2.8.6 Patient consent for publication

3.2.8.7 Conflict of interest

The disclosure of interests provides a complete and transparent process to help readers form their own judgments about potential prejudices. Authors are required to disclose the interests directly or indirectly related to the work submitted for publication. Within the last 3 years of starting work, interest should be reported. Interests outside the 3-year time frame must be disclosed if they can be reasonably considered to affect the submitted work.

3.2.9 Reference

The references are identified by numbers, and are indicated by Arabic numerals in square brackets in the order of their appearance in the text. DOI is recommended for articles with DOI codes, and is listed at the end of the article. The first three authors are listed in the references, and when there are more than three, “et al.” are added afterwards.

3.3 Manuscript content for review

3.3.1 Abstract with continuous (unstructured) or structured (including objective, method, result and conclusion), and the number of words is limited to 250 words;

3.3.2 There can be different sections and subtitles according to the subject;

3.4 Manuscript content for brief report

Applicable to the manuscript content for the review part;

3.5 Manuscript content for case report

Applicable to the manuscript content for the review part;

3.6 Figure

3.6.1 Images in the manuscript must be unpublished elsewhere, unless mentioned and/or referenced in the manuscript and consent has been obtained;

3.6.2 Images showing any patients or patient scans should not contain information that might identify them, unless you provide the patient's written permission to allow the use of specific images.

3.6.3 This journal accepts figures in TIFF (no layers), PDF and JPEG (high quality, up to 300 ppi) formats, but does not accept BMP, GIF, PCT, PNG or low-quality JPEG files;

3.6.4 For color figures, please use RGB or CMYK mode;

3.7 Table

3.7.1 Using consecutive Arabic numerals to number the tables and quote them in the text;

3.7.2 For each table, please provide a table title that explains the components of the table;

3.7.3 The footnotes of the table should be indicated by superscript lowercase letters (or asterisks for significance values and other statistical data) and included below the main body of the table;

4.1 Online Submit

Please click on the "Submit manuscript" hyperlink to submit through the online submission system accessed by our website. Create an account, log in and follow the instructions on the screen.

4.2 Submit instructions

The submitted manuscript has never been published before; it is not considered for publication in any other place; its publication has been approved by all co-authors and the research institute where the work is carried out. If there are any claims, the publisher will not be liable.

For the editors and reviewers to accurately assess the work in your manuscript, you need to make sure that the English is of sufficient quality to be understood.

1. Accept

After your article is confirmed as received, it will be exported to production for typesetting. After the layout is complete, you will receive a link asking you to confirm your affiliation, choose the publication mode of the article, and pay any related publication fees. After this is done, your article will be processed and you will receive a proof.

6.1 Article Publishing Agreement

According to the ownership and policies of the journal, you will grant the publisher an exclusive license to publish the article, or you will be required to transfer the copyright of the article to the publisher.

6.2 Color Figure

Publication of color figure is free

6.3 Proofreading

The purpose of proofreading is to check typesetting or conversion errors, as well as the completeness and accuracy of text, tables, and graphics. Substantial changes to the content, such as new results, corrected values, title, and authorship, are not allowed without editorial approval.

6.4 Post Online

The article can only be further changed in the form of an errata, which will be hyperlinked to the article.

6.5 Online First

The article will be published online after receiving the corrected proof. This is an official publication that can be cited by DOI. After the printed version is issued, the paper can also be cited by issue and page number.
